Here are the most outstanding beaches on the island to have the best vacations or holidays, with different characteristics to choose from depending on the purpose of visit, geography and if they get crowded or simply are isolated and therefore ideal to enjoy in a romantic getaway.

Playa Las Canteras

Located at Paseo Las Canteras in Las Palmas, capital of Gran Canaria is Playa Las Canteras; an amazing beach that is considered one of the best urban seashores in the region, and therefore receiving visitors during the whole year.

The beach is several kilometers long and is surrounded by luxury resorts, hotels, buildings and businesses specialized in offering all types of activities and services; canoe rides, surf classes and board rental, food sales and many more.

The sand at Las Canteras is soft and golden, perfect to enjoy with the whole family. Weather is ideal and water mild in most of the coastline, an area has stronger water that is perfect for surfing, though.

Due to its characteristics and being a place that is urbanized and influenced by men, Las Canteras is a tourist destination that gets quite crowded every day, particularly on weekends and high season, so if the intention is to enjoy a private and relaxing spot there are other choices.

Playa de Mogan

At Puerto Mogan there is the beach of Playa de Mogan, also being of the most visited in the island thanks to many services offered and related urbanism. As advantages, the beach includes a bay and a port, a beautiful coastline with golden sand, different species of fish that can be seen from near thanks to clear bluish waters.

Playa de Mogan is an equipped and man-made or improved beach, therefore sunbeds and umbrellas are available for use of the visitors, along with service providers that rent board, canoes, as well as facilitating surfing and diving lessons.

And since people have to eat while they are enjoying themselves, there are plenty of food kiosks and drink venues. From this place can be taken the best dawn shots and panoramic photos of the entire shore, especially at night with beautiful lights.

Playa Guayedra

Unlike the other two beaches that were mentioned before, Playa Guayedra that is located at the Guayedra Valley in the Parque Nacional Tamadaba is another type of destination, a lot more natural and different in characteristics, such as having volcanic grey sand and surrounded by rock cliffs and of the most amazing landscapes that can be seen in Las Palmas.

At the same time, flora and fauna substitute the great resorts and buildings for a more paradisiac feel, which is also ideal for those that are looking for a more private beach where to enjoy themselves. While Playa Guayedra is not that far away from the city center, it is less visited and therefore less crowded than other seashores but this usually is a positive feature.

Güigüí Beach

Following the private and inhospitable approach respecting beaches in Gran Canaria, to the west of the island visitors can go to the Güigüí Beach; an exotic seashore that can only be described as mysterious.

In detail, the place is surrounded by little mountains and cliffs. Now, when we say that the beach is inhospitable it is for real, since there are only two ways to get to it: there is the possibility to complete a trekking path by walk that can last up to three hours and also involve hiking, but having as a reward to enjoy of a virgin and private beach.
